So this is somewhat of a mixed-bag post.
I want to start the conversation about what the news organization is required to do to maintain DebateThis. So far we've been talking about DebateThis as being an independent website, and there may be some issues as to who takes care of it before 'senior point earners' begin to handle it (if that even ever happens). Aside from that, my impression is that the only change that would be taking place on the news organization's site would be the appearance of the button on the bottom of articles that says DebateThis!
Also, are there any issues with multiple news organization participants?
I said that this week I would try to come up with some ideas concerning the style of the site as a means of pinpointing the demographic we are in communication with.
I had the idea to incorporate a border that resembles old-style label makers with high school-themed photography. In the example I made I used a school hallway, but you can easily imagine that picture being something like a track-meet, a cafeteria full of kids.... whatever... and the pictures can change with each page of the site. (Ex: A competitive area would have sport/competition photography)
Of if you hate what I made, that's cool too. I admit my Photoshop skills are rusty.
I'll come up with some other totally different aesthetic ideas this week so we can have a variety to choose from. I don't want anyone to think we're stuck with this.
Let me know what you think.
Very much on the right track. Looks grungy and cool. May not be the final design but this is the direction we want to head for sure. Nicely done.
